President’s Message November 2023

November 2, 2023

Dear PAGCS Members,

It is an honor to serve the Association for a second term as President. I appreciate the trust placed in myself and the Board of Directors to lead the PAGCS. There is tremendous momentum for all of us as we approach our 100th Anniversary in 2025. Some key initiatives for the Board of Directors over the next 2 years include:

  • Continue to grow our scholarship programs to create interest in the golf profession and grow our new legacy scholarship, providing yet another value for a PAGCS member
  • Continue to promote the value of the Superintendent to all golfers in the area. Our Inside Golf initiative and education event have been well received and we hope to further get the word out about our essential role in the golf world
  • Ensure we are creating value and a tremendous return on investment for all of our Affiliate members and Sponsors
  • Further developing non golf networking events, both social and educational, for increased face-to-face among a broader range of members and sponsors
  • Ensure our 100th Anniversary is a year long celebration with marquee golf locations, a tribute to the past as well as ensuring success for Superintendents for the next 100 years.

I would like to welcome Brandon Collins, Nick Lubold, Matt Rogers, and Rich Shilling onto the Board as Directors. Together with Joe Agnew, these 5 individuals will bring much needed enthusiasm and new ideas to lead us into the future. Officers Pat Michener, Darren Farrar, and Tim Edwards have all graciously agreed to serve another term. Doug Rae, former president, officer, and director for nearly 2 decades has agreed to continue to help as Past President, as well as oversee the scholarship programs. Finally, I would like to thank Greg Eisner, Chris Toporski, and Mark Rubbo for their service to the Board as their terms expired and they can now focus more on family.

Please continue to check your emails and calendars for 3 great off-season events both locally and in Phoenix where all of our members can network and enjoy some down time after a busy year and a busy 3 years since Covid.

Respectfully,

Greg D’Antonio
President, Philadelphia Association of Golf Course Superintendents
