Arboretum at Penn State | Joseph Valentine Turfgrass Research Center
On August 1st, professional landscapers, golf course superintendents, sports turf managers, grounds managers, and others interested in the management of turf and ornamental landscape plantings will have the opportunity to see the latest trends and research from Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences during Turf & Ornamentals Field Day. Speakers will include Penn State faculty, staff, graduate students, and extension educators.

Held at the Arboretum at Penn State and the Joseph Valentine Turfgrass Research Center on the University Park campus, Turf and Ornamentals Field Day will begin at 8:00 am with a Core Pesticide Education Program, followed by morning breakout sessions. From 10 am – 12 pm, turfgrass suppliers will be conducting demonstrations of the latest technology at Joseph Valentine Turfgrass Research Center. Box lunches will be provided at the Arboretum at noon and are included in the cost of the program. In the afternoon, attendees can participate in Lawn and Sports Turf or Golf Turf tracks at the Joseph Valentine Turfgrass Research Center, or three breakout sessions dealing with weeds and other pests, plant disease, perennials, and tours of the Arboretum, Soils Lab, Pollinator and Bird Garden, and a virtual tour of landscape design.
Core and Category pesticide credits have been approved from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Education Points have been approved from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) and Sports Field Management Association (SFMA). Afternoon sessions will include turfgrass research tours at the Valentine Research Center that will qualify for up to 2 CORE credits, 3 Credits in Category 7, 18, & 23, 2.75 PCH CEUs, 0.3 GCSAA CEUs, and 0.25 CEUs SFMA (to any CSFM).
